The Vías Verdes (green roads) are former railway lines running through Spain. There are already more than 90 Vías Verdes with about 1900 km of hiking and cycling routes to nice hidden places in the interior. There is no motorized traffic allowed on the Vias Verdes. In the Province of Alicante there are four green roads: Alcoy-Agost, Agost-Puerto del Maigmó, Vía Verde de las Salinas (Torrevieja) and Xixarra 2 (Alicante-Biar) and have a length of approximately 7 to 20 km. It is a different of exploring the area with mountains and valleys, bridges and viaducts and tunnels of over a hundred years old.
The Costa Blanca has several spectacular theme parks, water parks and zoos. A huge offer that ensures that the Costa Blanca is one of the favourite destinations for family holidays in Europe.

Various wines are produced on the Costa Blanca. Often it is the sweet dessert wine from the Moscatel grape. However nowadays red and rosé wines come from the Costa. Due to the heat in the summer, the vines are grown close to the ground. There are three 'Denominación de Origen' areas: Alicante, Utiel-Requena and Valencia.
It is a real treat to explore the coast by boat. From the water you have an excellent view of the coast and its delightful villages and towns. You can book cruises and excursions in the various towns and cities. As well as a trip by ferry to the Balearic Islands is wonderful experience. Rental of canoes, kayaks, jet skis or even yachts (with or without a captain) can be found in many places. The local tourist offices can inform you in detail.
The province of Alicante has many caves where you can get a guided tour. In some caves you can really descend as a speleologist, such as in the town of Castell de Castells. caves such as Cartagena in Benitachell, Cueva Moraig are under the water surface. Various diving excursions are excursions to be explored.
