Under the blue sky, in the green region
A different world in the neighbourhood
Eifeler Tor is a fantastic place for hikers, cyclists, mountain bikers, sailors, canoers, and pedal boats. It is located near the Eifel town of Heimbach, immediately at the National Park Eifel. A region so beautiful and so green, that you imagine yourself to be in another world. With dark forests and beautiful hiking areas. Sizeable rock formations and mountains. Winding brooks and large lakes, such as the Rursee situated immediately next to the resort, which people call the most beautiful lake of Germany. If you think that there is nothing for you to do here when you are not a nature lover, you are wrong.
For people who enjoy delicious and large portions of food, Germany is a small paradise. A generous main course is also a lot cheaper than in the Netherlands. That also applies to a glass of wine or beer on the terrace. And you will find plenty of terraces in picturesque places such as Heimbach, Nideggen and Monschau and also in the Cathedral and shopping city of Aachen at a distance of 45km or the historical shopping city of Cologne. These cities also have fun and interesting exhibitions and museums to discover.
Going to one of the many beaches along the Rursee, canoeing on the Rur, cycling at one of the child-friendly bicycle routes, sailing on the Rursee, taking a trip with a Ranger, climbing and scrambling in the activity park; it is too much to mention. A little bit further away: spending a day in Phantasialand is within reach (at approximately 45km) from Eifeler Tor. And for young animal lovers, the Wildgehege Hellenthal (at 25km) is quite impressive. Here you can see wild animal species throughout the year, such as red deer, fallow deer, foxes, lynxes and bears. There is also an exiting bird show.
