Seal spotting on the Zeeland coast
There are several places in Zeeland where you can spot common and grey seals, which occur in the wild here. You can frequently admire them near Hooge Plaaten, a sandbank in the Wester Scheldt between Breskens and Hoofdplaat. Seals can often be seen basking in the sun on a sandbank from two hours before to one hour after low tide. Bring your binoculars or camera with zoom lens to have a better look at them. Find fossils and shark’s teeth on the beach
Nieuwvliet-Bad and Cadzand are well known for the fossils and shark’s teeth you can find on the beach - a popular activity in Zeeland among many tourists! The fossils and shark’s teeth can be millions of years old and can even date from the Pleistocene, the period when the last ice age occurred. You are most likely to find fossils or teeth near the radar tower in De Verdronken Zware Polder, only 3 kilometres from the resort. Maybe you will find some!
Tip:
Search in places with a lot of shell grit. Most shark’s teeth are light or dark grey or black. Do you not see any on the surface? Dig a hole and sift the sand.
Take part in water sports on the Zeeland coast
You can take part in several water sports during your stay, which will make your holiday an unforgettable one. Jump onto a kiteboard and brave the waves, or explore the coast while SUP-boarding. One of the most popular water sports on the Zeeland coast is wavekarting. Step on board a wavekart and sail over the waves of the North Sea. You steer the motorised speedboat under the guidance of experienced instructors. An exciting activity in Zeeland for true daredevils! How fast will you go?
Admire the underwater world in Sea Life Blankenberge
At Sea Life Blankenberge, about 40 minutes by car from the resort, you can explore the amazing underwater world. Walk through the ocean tunnel and admire all the tropical fish. There are also specific zones in the park where you can find out more about different flora and fauna. Visit the tropical rainforest or watch the sea lions, otters or penguins being fed. Would you like to enjoy an educational day out with the whole family? Visit Deltapark Neeltje Jans! Here you will find out about the Delta Project and Zeeland’s battle against the water. Explore the world of whales by whizzing down the water slide, experience wind force 12 in the hurricane machine or visit the largest aquarium in Zeeland and get face to face with tropical sharks. You can also watch sea lions and seals being fed. A great place to visit for all ages!

Visit the Zeeland Maritime MuZEEum
The family-friendly museum MuZEEum is one of the most beautiful museums in the Netherlands. It is situated in Vlissingen, an hour by car from the resort. Embark on an adventure and explore the history of shipping in the Michiel de Ruyter Museum. Here you will find a beautiful 17th-century city palace and the underwater treasures of sunk ships of the Dutch East India Company. On the basis of exciting games and instructions you experience the journey from building a ship to trading at sea. You will learn more about the adventures of Michiel de Ruyter and the maritime life of Zeeland. Highly recommended for young and old!
Visit Plopsaland with the whole family
The popular family theme park Plopsaland de Panne is just over an hour by car from the resort. This theme park of Studio 100 features all kinds of magical attractions for different ages. Go for a dizzying ride in the Balloon Race, discover one of the longest slides in Belgium or step into the DinoSplash. Real thrill seekers should visit the mysterious Anubis House, where you will reach a speed of 90 kilometres per hour in as little as 2 seconds. There is lots to do for the whole family in Plopsaland!
Play golf on one of the most beautiful golf courses in the vicinity
Are you a golf enthusiast? Play a round of golf on one of the most beautiful golf courses in the vicinity. There are 4 golf courses that are less than half an hour by car from our resort. Shortgolf Cadzand-Bad is the one that is closest to the resort; it only takes 9 minutes by car to get there. From this circular 9-hole short golf course you can enjoy wonderful views of the Cadzand polder. You can also visit the 18-hole Champions Course Golfclub Oostburg or one of the golf courses in Knokke-Heist in Belgium: Koninklijke Zoute Golf Club or Approachgolf Knokke. In other words, there are plenty of options!
Enjoy good food in one of the many Michelin-starred restaurants
Did you know that Zeeland is the Dutch province with the most Michelin-starred restaurants per inhabitant? The highest ratio can be found in the region of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, where Dormio Resort Nieuwvliet-Bad is situated. Because of its location on the coast, it is not all that surprising that Zeeland chefs like to use the unique culinary products from the region. Visit Michelin-starred restaurant De Kromme Watergang in Hoofdplaats, Spetters in Breskens or the master chef Sergio Herman’s Brasserie AirRepublic in Cadzand. The perfect holiday destination if you want to enjoy fine dining!

There are many fun activities to enjoy during your stay in Zeeland. If you are on holiday with small children, a visit to Pierewiet activity farm is an absolute must. This activity farm is located just 7 minutes' drive from our resort and has a petting zoo, an adventure minigolf course, an indoor and outdoor playground, and much more! Why not take a day trip to SnowWorld Terneuzen, which is only a 30 minutes’ drive away, or Bellewaerde Park, just over an hour’s drive away, for a fun day out with the family. Bellewaerde Park not only has various family attractions, but also exotic animals and an Aquapark.
