Discover the special flora and fauna in the ‘Verdronken Zwarte Polder
The 55 hectare ‘Verdronken Zwarte Polder’ nature reserve is only a six-minute cycle ride from our resort. This nature-rich park was established in 1623 and flooded in 1802. The land was subsequently never fully reclaimed, giving rise to the name 'The Drowned Black Polder'. Discover the special flora and fauna and different landscapes here, there are mudflats, salt marshes and dunes. Take a walk through the beautiful countryside where you can regularly spot rare songbirds such as the greylag and the grass warbler. Marvel at the beauty of nature and make sure you visit this wonderful nature reserve close to our resort.
Spend a day at the beach in Cadzand
In the attractive seaside resort of Cadzand, you can enjoy the fresh air on the beach, soak up the sun and explore the beautiful dune area. Did you know Cadzand is the southernmost seaside resort in the Netherlands? Cadzand has several terraces on the beach, on the promenade and in the village. However, you can also shop, take walks or cycle through the dunes or go exploring to find unusual fossils and shark teeth. A great place to visit, only an 8-minute drive away from the resort.

Admire the historic architecture in the romantic city of Bruges
The romantic city of Bruges is a popular destination for a day trip from our resort. The city centre, full of medieval charm, is only about half an hour's drive away. You can take a stroll through the small and winding streets, admire the historic architecture and enjoy the picturesque canals. Do you love chocolate? Then Bruges is the place for you as it has more than 50 chocolatiers selling delicious Belgian chocolate. You can also climb the impressive belfry tower on Market Square for breathtaking views over the city. The entire city centre of Bruges is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you love historic architecture and visiting romantic city centres, Bruges is an absolute must!
Enjoy a nature-themed interactive day at Zwin Nature Park
Does an interactive nature-themed day with your children interest you? Then Zwin Nature Reserve is highly recommended. This diverse nature reserve is located half an hour's drive away from the resort, where you can admire a variety of bird species and diverse landscapes, from mudflats to dunes. Follow the cabin trail to see birds up close, discover the freshwater laboratory with shellfish, crabs, anemones and crustaceans or enjoy the breathtaking views from the observation huts. You can also spot rare saltwater plants such as glasswort and visit the Reserve’s regular exhibitions.
Discover the lively shopping centre of Knokke-Heist in Belgium
If you love shopping, then a visit to the centre of Knokke-Heist is a must during your stay at Dormio Strand Resort Nieuwvliet-Bad! Located just across the Flemish border just a 25-minute drive away from the resort, this bustling seaside resort is known for its many fashion shops, art galleries and gourmet restaurants. You can also enjoy various water sports at Lakeside Paradise or learn more about the Battle of the Scheldt at the For Freedom Museum.
Take a stroll through the charming streets of historic Sluis
A visit to the friendly, historic centre of Sluis is also highly recommended, and it’s only a 15-minute drive away from the resort. Stroll through the charming streets, admire the old city gates and visit the local boutiques and restaurants. You will also find the only belfry in the Netherlands. At the museum, you will discover the history of Sluis and its famous inhabitant Johan Hendrik van Dale. The belfry also houses two mini cinemas, several exhibitions, period rooms and the council chamber. Don’t forget to climb the tower to enjoy the beautiful view of the surroundings from the top.

The sandy beach near our resort is very wide and slopes gently down to the sea. At low tide, there are many shallow pools where children can happily play. So if you are looking for the perfect beach destination for a family holiday with young children, this is the right place!
Take a day trip to the popular port of Vlissingen
Across the Westerschelde estuary you will find the beloved city of Vlissingen. Take the ferry from Breskens to Vlissingen and enjoy a relaxing boat trip and a day out in Vlissingen. This picturesque port town has a rich maritime history that you can discover in the muZEEum. You can also admire the passing ships, the beautiful sea views and the historical buildings in the centre of Vlissingen. A visit to the promenade is an absolute must, where you can enjoy delicious food with amazing sea views.
Experience an amazing day out in the bustling centre of Ghent
Burgundian Ghent, about an hour's drive away from the resort, offers you an ideal mix of history, culture and conviviality. Explore the beautiful old city centre with its impressive architecture and charming canals, or enjoy the lively atmosphere on the many terraces. During your day trip to Ghent, don't miss the imposing Gravensteen castle, the only remaining medieval moated castle in Flanders. Go back in time to the Middle Ages and admire the impressive defence system that is still almost completely intact. Ghent is also the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing Belgian beer on one of its many lively squares. A beautiful city with great historical sights!
Explore Terneuzen and learn more about the Flying Dutchman
The port city of Terneuzen has plenty to offer for a fun day trip and is located about a 30-minute drive away from the resort. Visit one of the many museums, enjoy a boat trip on the Westerschelde or spend a day skiing at SnowWorld. In Terneuzen, you can also discover more interesting facts about the Flying Dutchman. Dotted around Terneuzen are various artworks and activities related to this ghost ship, from an escape room to an educational scavenger hunt and a place where you can spot ships. So there is plenty to do.
