In this beautiful part of the Alps, you can take part in a variety of mountain sports - including mountaineering - with the whole family. Of course, you can do so under the supervision of qualified professionals, so that you can enjoy this activity with peace of mind.
Do you like hiking? Flaine is the perfect place for you, with a number of beautiful hiking routes for all levels from new and experienced hikers. There are short walks of a few kilometres and challenging hikes of several days.
Challenging mountain bike routes
The area of Le Grand Massif is a spectacular summer destination in the French Alps for a challenging mountain biking holiday. In Le Grand Massif you will find hundreds of kilometres of marked and unmarked trails, with the most stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif. Eight ski lifts are open in Le Grand Massif in the summer, giving you the opportunity to ride the 350 kilometres of marked trails. As this area is still an undiscovered MTB destination, there are many secret trails to be explored - hidden in the vast forests - in addition to the many marked routes. Wild water sports
Are you looking for a bit of a challenge during your holiday in Flaine? In the summer, you can enjoy yourself on the water with various water sports activities near the resort. Get onto a fast-flowing river in an inflatable canoe for two or go rafting with a group. Rafting is all about teamwork. You need to keep the boat under control together. Another spectacular water sport is canyoning, which involves traversing a canyon, usually filled with water, by hiking, swimming, climbing, sliding, jumping and abseiling.
Especially for children: climbing trees
When you are staying in the natural environment of Flaine, your kids will only want to do one thing: climb trees. In Flaine, your children can have a great time at Accro Fun, Accro Rock and Accro Kid. These activities have been especially developed for kids aged four and over. The courses consist of nets suspended from treetops or along rock walls. Of course, your children's safety is our priority during these activities.

Geocaching is a great activity for the whole family in the summer. While walking through nature, you will look for treasures hidden by other walkers, using GPS. A true treasure hunt in the mountains!

You will get this summer pass for free on checking in, if you stay at our resort for at least 3 nights. Most activities are suitable for children of different ages, but as a parent you can also take part in a number of activities. You can request the current programme of activities upon arrival.
Explore the surroundings in a different way
Would you like to explore the surroundings while doing something different? There are all kinds of nice and challenging activities you can do in Flaine! For example, in the winter you can take a snow scooter or ice quad bike or go sledding with dogs and share a special time with huskies. You will explore a large part of the snow-covered surroundings, while enjoying a unique experience. Are you going to Flaine in the summer months? Paragliding offers an adventurous way to admire the breathtaking area from the air. Go on a beautiful tandem flight with an instructor from a height of 2,100 metres.
Tip: relax at our resort
After an active day on the water or in the mountains, you may well have sore muscles. Make sure you don’t plan too much for the following day and allow yourself time to relax in the wellness centre or to go for a swim in the heated indoor swimming-pool.

Les Carroz golf course with fantastic view
In the summer months, you can enjoy a round of golf on the 18-hole Les Carroz golf course in Flaine, while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views. At the golf course, you will find many differences in height and slopes that add to the fun. This activity is only suitable for real enthusiasts. Because of the large differences in height, you need to be fairly fit.
Enjoy the different ski pistes
The ski area Le Grand Massif is suitable for both novice and advanced winter sports enthusiasts. So you can enjoy a winter sports holiday with the whole family here. Did you know that on Le Grand Massif there are as many as 151 ski pistes: 20 green, 64 blue, 50 red and 17 black pistes? This is the perfect ski area! The free ski bus stops right beside Resort Les Portes Du Grand Massif, and you can take the ski bus back from Flaine town centre.

Climb to the summit of Grandes Platières
The beautiful surroundings of Le Grand Massif offer a number of walking routes suitable for both families and experienced walkers. Climb to the summit of Grandes Platières and enjoy the magnificent views at an altitude of 2,500 metres. From this point you can see Mont Blanc, the Aravis, Belledonne and the Jura Mountains. This is probably one of the most spectacular views in Flaine, and a great activity for young and old!
You can reach the top by taking the cable car from Grandes Platières. Are you an experienced hiker? Then you can also climb Grandes Platières on foot. This hike takes about 3 hours.
Visit the attractive villages of Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval
It will take you just over half an hour by car to get to Samoëns from our resort. You can enjoy a walk in the historic centre and admire the beautiful architecture. Are you a nature enthusiast? Also visit the neighbouring village of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, where you can go for some beautiful walks in the special Cirque-du-Fer-à-Cheval valley. You will come across more than 30 spectacular waterfalls here. In the summer months, you can also go glacier hiking here, with or without a guide. This is a demanding, very adventurous walk on Mont Blanc!

Learn to drive a car on ice
Have you always wanted to learn to drive a car on ice? You can do this on the ice track in Flaine! With a length of 1,500 metres, this is one of the longest ice tracks in France. The ice here is of a good quality because there is no sun, creating the perfect conditions to learn how to control your car in snow-covered bends and on icy roads. An exciting, very instructive activity!
Race across the snow on a mountain kart or moonbike
Are you a real daredevil? Race down the slope on a mountain kart or moonbike! The mountain kart is a special vehicle with a steering wheel and brakes; a new variation on tobogganing! Do you want even more of a challenge? Explore the beautiful mountain landscape on a moonbike! The moonbike is an electric snow bike which can reach a top speed of 42 km per hour. An unforgettable activity that involves a fair bit of adrenaline!
