Tram route along the beautiful coast
Dormio Resort Costa Blanca is situated in beautiful surroundings with several different transport options. For example, you can travel by tram along the beautiful coastline to cities like Alicante and Benidorm! From the resort, it is only a 200-metre walk to the nearest tram stop. There is also a bus stop for the bus to El Campello or Villajoyosa on the road beside our resort. The bus also stops at Los Baños de la Reina and Paseo Marítimo, both of which are definitely worth a visit!
Some 15 kilometres north of the city of Alicante you will find the attractive seaside town of El Campello. El Campello has a 23-kilometre-long coastline and is therefore a very popular coastal town along the Costa Blanca! Here you will find the beautiful sandy beaches of Cala Lanuza, Muchavista and Carrer La Mar and idyllic, peaceful bays like Morro Blanc and Carritxal.
The vibrant city of Alicante is situated about 24 kilometres from Dormio Resort Costa Blanca. Alicante is the perfect place for shopping, going out or sightseeing! The Explana de España, an attractive promenade in a green setting, is the central point. Castillo de Santa Bárbara, a castle on top of Monte Benacantil, is the city’s pride. Would you like to visit Alicante for a day out? Travel by tram for a relaxed journey! The tram stop is at walking distance from the resort. A beautiful route along the coast, via San Juan and Muchavista, will take you to the attractive Plaza de Los Luceros in the vibrant city centre of Alicante in 25 minutes.
Altea and Calpe
Of all the small towns along the coast, Altea is definitely one of the most beautiful ones! Altea is situated 10 kilometres north of Benidorm. It has an attractive old town centre with the beautiful Parroquia De Nuestra Señora Del Consuelo church, an impressive church square and charming white houses with a large number of art galleries!
Slightly further north along the coast, past Calpe, you can enjoy stunning views. You can see the rock and the Penyal d’Ifac nature reserve from afar. The rocky outcrop towers more than 300 metres above the Mediterranean, providing an impressive vista.

The former fishing village of Benidorm has developed into a very large seaside resort with an impressive skyline. Millions of tourists spend their summer holiday here each year. Outside the summer season there are many tourists who spend the winter here because of its very mild climate. What makes Benidorm so popular is the ideal combination of the vibrant nightlife and the wide sandy beaches, which can be reached from the town centre on foot.
A 30-minute drive from Dormio Resort Costa Blanca will take you to the UNESCO town of Elche. This beautiful city is mentioned three times on the UNESCO world heritage list! You can, for example, visit the exotic palm grove, the Palmeral de Elche. It has more than 200,000 palm trees, making it one of the largest palm groves in the world! It therefore does not come as a surprise that Elche is called the “City of Palm Trees”.
In the coast’s hinterland, time has stood still almost everywhere, and you can experience authentic Spain! For example, you can visit the unique village of Guadalest. In this village surrounded by rocks you will find El Castell de Guadalest. The castle offers a wonderful insight into Spanish life in the past, and there are stunning views of the surroundings with the mountains, the reservoir and the village itself. A beautiful picture!
Visit the picturesque village of Villajoyosa with its charming coloured fisherman’s houses! These distinctive houses were painted in a whole range of pastel colours to show fishermen the place they should head for. At the beginning of the 17th century, Villajoyosa also played an important part in defending the coastline against pirates. You can still admire the remains of the city walls and watchtowers. The village also has a rich history in the chocolate industry, and it is therefore referred to as a chocolate heaven on the Costa Blanca! This attractive village is also known for its beautiful coastline, with a large but quiet sandy beach.
The pirate island of Tabarca
Take the boat to the smallest inhabited island of Spain from the harbour in Benidorm or the Muelle de Poniente in Alicante. Tabarca has approximately 50 residents and is only 1,800 metres long and 400 metres wide. Tabarca stands for azure blue seas, beautiful vistas and colourful fisherman’s houses. From May to October a glass-bottom boat departs daily from the marina to the island. A great island adventure for young and old!
Visit a local market
You will find markets with local products in each village along the Costa Blanca. The daily flea market in the village of Jalón, 40 kilometres north of Benidorm, is highly recommended. Antiques, bric-à-brac and art make up the bulk of what is on offer. You can also taste delicious wines. In Moraira, next to Avenida de Madrid, there is a large market each Friday, with something to suit everyone. Useful to know: there is free parking right beside this market.
