Discover the picturesque Altea
Lovely white houses, narrow streets, colourful flowers and a beautiful view... Make sure you don’t miss the town of Altea during your holiday on the Costa Blanca! From Dormio Resort Costa Blanca you can drive to this authentic town in just half an hour.
Experience the old city center Caso Antiguo
Altea is located on a hill close to the coast. The old town of Altea, Casco Antiguo, is built on the hill and consists of all white houses. In the 18th century, these houses were mainly used as galleries, shops and artisan workshops. Through the old gate, Portal Viejo, you have access to the old center.
On the hill you will find a beautiful church with beautiful blue domes, Iglesia de Arriba, this is also called the high-altitude church. The church is located directly on a cozy square, Plaza de la Iglesia. From here you have beautiful views over Altea and the coast. It is quite a climb up, so make sure you put on good shoes and bring a bottle of water with you when you go up. The walk via the stairs is definitely worth it! Along the way there are plenty of places where you can enjoy the beautiful view. When you’re on the hill it is time for a refreshing cold beer or delicious sangria in the cozy square. You can walk back down another street. You will pass all kinds of nice boutiques and galleries.
Tip: admire the beautiful churches near Altea
Would you like to visit more churches in the area? Just outside the center of Altea you will find the first Russian Orthodox Church built in Spain, Iglesia Ortodoxa Rusa. A Russian billionaire wanted an exact copy of a Russian Orthodox church from the seventeenth century. The church was built with wood and other materials from the Ural mountains by Russian workers.
Spotting beautiful yachts
When you have walked back down you can take a look at the port of Altea: Puerto Campomanes. You can eat or drink here in the bars and restaurants while watching the big yachts.
Relax on the beach
Would you like to stay a little longer in Altea? You can take a refreshing dip on one of the beaches that Altea has to offer. There are several beaches where you can swim, sunbathe and relax. Playa L’Olla is a beach with pebbles and rocks. Opposite the beach there are also two rocks that you can reach by swimming. This beach is also accessible to people with reduced mobility. Do you like sailing or windsurfing? Visit Playa Cap Negret! A wonderful beach that is located in the northern part of Altea. If you prefer a busy beach with a cozy boulevard and many water sports options, I recommend the tourist beach of Playa de la Roda. On the boulevard you will find cozy restaurants and ice cream parlors.
Tip: Would you like to go diving or snorkeling? The beach of Playa del Mascarat is highly recommended because the sea is very pure.

At a half hour drive from Altea you will find the luxury holiday apartments of Dormio Resort Costa Blanca Beach & Spa. At this brand new resort right on the beach you can enjoy the extensive facilities including two outdoor swimming pools, relaxing wellness facilities, a modern Mediterranean restaurant and a lovely tapas bar.
