During your stay on the Costa Blanca, why not visit the picturesque village of Villajoyosa with its pretty multicoloured fishermen's houses. These distinctive houses used to be painted in all sorts of pastel shades so that fishermen out on the Mediterranean could easily find their way home. In the early 17th century, Villajoyosa also played an important role in defending the Alicante coastline from Barbary pirates and city wall and watchtowers were built to protect the coastline. You can still see and admire these remains of these defences during your visit. But there’s more to the colourful village of Villajoyosa than just charmingly painted and special attractions: the village also has a rich history in the chocolate industry and is sometimes called the Chocolate Pearl of the Costa Blanca. A real must-see! Moreover, this picturesque is also known for its gorgeous coastline with a large but quiet sandy beach.
