One of the highlights of Le Grand Massif is the blue slope Les Cascades with a length of 14 km that runs along the border of the area to Sixt Fer à Cheval. Across a beautiful and quiet natural area, you descend no less than 1,700 metres!
The luxury ski resort Flaine has a new and fast chairlift: Le Desert Blanc. This 6-persons lift brings you to the sunniest corner of the area through which the blue slope Serpentine passes. Around the Serpentine, beginning and experienced freestylers will find a tremendous playing area with natural jumps, kickers and spines.
The view from the top of the Grandes Platières-lift is unprecedented and belongs to the most beautiful ones of the Alps. There you will see how uniquely beautiful the Mont Blanc stands out against the clear-blue sky, while the sunlight behind you is reflected in the lake of Geneva. At a distance, you can see the snowy peaks of the Jura.
When it snows, a visit to Les Carroz and Morillon, situated two villages lower than Flaine, is definitely recommended. There, all the slopes are located between the trees which provides an amazing view. Les Carroz also has a warm and dry gondola to reach the top of the descent.
Are you looking for a challenge? When fresh snow has fallen, it is fantastic to ski off-slope at La Combe de Gers. As soon as the slope is open and the black slope Styx has been declared safe, you can make a thunderous descent here of no less than 750 metres.
Ski area Flaine has more to offer than just skiing or snowboarding. You are also able to practice sport climbing and ice-skating and for an adventurous ride, you just rent an ice-squad or snow scooter. For people looking for more excitement, paragliding is a guarantee for a spectacular view of the ski area. Even a helicopter flight is one of the many possibilities.
