Natural Park del Carrascal de la Font Roja

The Natural Park de la Font Roja is located in the north of the province of Alicante, between the municipalities of Alcoy and Ibi. This natural park is considered one of the best-preserved natural areas of the region of Valencia and consists mainly of limestone mountains. The many beautiful landscapes, including the mountains El Carrascal de la Font Roja, La Teixereta and L'Alt de Sant Antoni, are amazing. Because of its unique location, you will also find special flora and fauna, including small birds but also wild boar, badgers and snakes.

Do you like hiking? Because of the mountainous surroundings, you can walk several routes here. There is something for everyone, from easy short routes to more advanced routes with longer paths and steeper sections for the more experienced hikers. Hike the route el Santuari de la Font Roja and admire one of the most remarkable viewpoints in Alicante.

Fountains of Algar

Fountains of Algar

This natural phenomenon is located 3 kilometres from Callosa d'en Sarriá and about 15 kilometres from the city of Benidorm. These waterfalls, formed by nature, flow from the river Algar into the Mediterranean Sea and are about 12 kilometres long. This is undoubtedly a special place where you can be completely immersed in nature. The rocks and flora around the river make you feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle.

Tip: Don't forget your swimwear when you visit the falls! However, keep in mind that the water of the river is quite cold throughout the year.

Caves of Canelobre

Caves of Canelobre

The Caves of Canelobre, located in Busot, are hidden among the mountains of Cabezón de Oro. Here you can admire various types of stalagmites and stalactites. These were formed as a result of mineral deposits and water seeping through the crevices in the rocks.

Although these caves are known to many and are certainly a must during your vacation in the Alicante area, many people do not know that musical performances take place in these caves regularly. This is because the acoustics in the caves create a beautiful sound.

The salt lakes of Torrevieja

The salt lakes of Torrevieja

The salt lakes of Torrevieja are without doubt one of the most unique places on the coast of Alicante. The many algae in the water cause the water to have a reddish colour. Very impressive, so keep your camera ready!

There are also many flamingos living in this beautiful landscape that you can watch. In the breeding season up to two thousand flamingos can be found here. You do not want to miss this!

Isla de Tabarca

Isla de Tabarca is the only inhabited island in the region of Valencia and is located about 8 kilometres from Santa Pola. Do you like to fish? Then definitely taste one of the delicious fish dishes in the restaurants. This island has a real fishing tradition. The island can be reached from both the port of Santa Pola and the city of Alicante by ferries and catamarans.

We recommend leaving early in the morning so you have enough time to explore all the beaches and hidden coves. These are protected areas with countless species of fauna, so don't forget your goggles!

El Huerto del Cura

El Huerto del Cura

This botanical garden in the city of Elche has more than a thousand palm trees. Most of these palm trees are date palms, which are typical of the region. You will also find other typical, tropical trees such as citrus and olive trees and one of the most popular palm trees in the area, the Imperial Palm, named after Sissi, the Empress of Austria.

The palm trees are not the only thing you can enjoy at el Huerto del Cura. The ponds and various statues will make you feel completely at peace.

La Albufereta en El Cabo de las Huertas

Would you like to discover some history during your vacation in Costa Blanca? In Albufereta you will find a beautiful promenade where you can see the archaeological ruins from Roman times. In these ruins, you can admire a water cellar, a fish farm and what appears to be quarried. You will also have a great view of the city here.

If you keep following the promenade northward you will arrive at Cabo de las Huertas. This is a beautiful walk along the coast with several rocky coves. You will completely relax with the background sound of the sea crashing against the rocks.

Tip: We recommend watching the sunset from here. You will have a wonderful view of both the city of Alicante and the sea with a spectacular red sky!

La Cova del Llop Marí

La Cova del Llop Marí is a beautiful bay of sand and rocks. Although this bay is located in touristic El Campello, it is not crowded and you can enjoy the crystal clear water in peace.

Do you like diving and snorkelling? Thanks to its rich flora and fauna, this bay is the ideal location for doing this.

Tip: You can easily reach this bay from Dormio Resort Costa Blanca by streetcar. Get off at the Pueblo Español stop.
