About 45 minutes from Maastricht you will find Three-Country Point. It is of course a special place, where the borders of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet. This is a great area for a good walk, or you can take a seat on one of the terraces. The largest and most exciting labyrinth of the Netherlands is another fun place to go. Going hither and thither you try to find the central point, but be careful for the spontaneously jetting water walls! There is an admission fee for the labyrinth.
Fun fact: with an altitude of 322.5 metres, Three-Country Point on Vaalserberg is also the highest point of the Netherlands. Do you want to go even higher? Climb one of the viewing towers. You will be rewarded with great views of the three different countries.
A 20-minute drive from the hotel in Maastricht will take you to the beautiful, very lively town of Valkenburg aan de Geul. Valkenburg is well-known for its historic town centre, the hilly landscape and the many activities for young and old. This small town therefore attracts many visitors from both the Netherlands and abroad every year.
A half-hour drive from Dormio Resort Maastricht takes you to the village of Gulpen, known for its beer of the same name and Gulpener Berg, where the Amstel Gold Race takes place.
Less than half an hour by car takes you to the capital of Belgian Limburg: Hasselt. Hasselt is also referred to as the “Capital of Taste”, because of the many tasteful shops, museums and bars and restaurants.
The Belgian village of Maasmechelen is only 25 minutes from the resort in Maastricht. This mining village of the past is visited daily by hundreds of people, who come to enjoy Natuurpark Hoge Kempen or Maasmechelen Village, the outlet paradise for fashion lovers.

Bilzen in Belgium is a very welcoming, lively little town. It is situated just across the border, 15 minutes from Dormio Resort Maastricht, in the middle of the Haspengouw castle area. The pearl in the Bilzen crown is the impressive Alden Biesen Castle, where the Grand Commander used to live, which is certainly worth a visit! In Bilzen you will not only find impressive moated castles and large castle grounds but also breathtaking views, juicy fruit trees and some surprising attractions, such as the night-time video walk “Bilzen Mysteries”.
